Fat Grafting

In recent years, fat grafting has become a popular addition to almost any procedure. Fat grafting is designed to add volume to areas that have lost youthful-looking fat due to age, weight loss, and pregnancy. Unlike dermal fillers, fat grafting uses your own excess fat from areas of the body including abdomen, knees, and thighs. Dermal fillers typically last 6-12 months while fat grafting can be a permanent fix for volume loss.

Fat grafting can be performed to enhance the volume of certain facial features. Our patients find that a fuller face can add a youthful glow about them. This is a common addition to many facial procedures like face and neck lift, brow lift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), and rhinoplasty (nose surgery).

Many patients are interested in enhancing the shape, contour, or volume of their buttocks (Brazilian Butt Lift). Having a full, rounded buttock area was once considered undesirable, but it is now perceived as being healthy and attractive. Adding fat to the buttocks can be done on its own or in combination with liposuction, abdominoplasty, or lower body lift procedures.

Candidates for Fat Grafting

The Fat Grafting Procedure

Dr. Behmand will do your fat grafting by harvesting your own fat through specialized low-pressure liposuction. Once all impurities been removed and the best fat cells isolated, the small droplets of your fat will be carefully injected into the desired areas. The total volume of fat depends on the body areas being treated and the amount of change desired.

Recovery From Fat Grafting

After returning home from your fat grafting procedure, it is important that you follow all instructions provided during your pre-operative appointment. You should plan to take at least one to two weeks to recover in the comfort of your home before returning to work and normal daily routines. During this time, it is crucial that you do not exert yourself physically. Rest, relaxation, and hydration will do wonders in your recovery. You should also plan to avoid all physical activity for at least 4 weeks following surgery. This will mean you cannot work out or engage in strenuous activity that will increase your heart rate, which could cause swelling in the fat-grafted areas.

“I can’t fully express how grateful I am to have found you! You are AMAZING! Even though it is early in my recovery I already see the difference and know it will only improve. Thank you for peeling away the layers to reveal the extreme hotness that was hiding underneath it all!”
